Casino's welfare fund

Three year old Casino, a retired racing greyhound from Edinburgh, had found his forever home in Shetland with a loving family but it turned out he wasn't best suited with peerie bairns. My old hound Apollo crossed the Rainbow Bridge last winter and I was now feeling ready to adopt a new hound, so on Friday 22 Sep it seemed fate lined up in my favour and I took Casino on trial and fell in love with this beautiful bouncy boy.
All was great but on Thursday 28th, he had a freak accident and shattered his front right leg. We got him to the Scalloway Vets and after x-rays and discussion with the vet, the only option is to amputate. It sounds hellish, but I've seen videos which asures me greyhounds can live with a great quality of life on three legs.
Now comes my plea - The insurance lapsed the day before the accident and, despite being a loyal customer for 10 years with Apollo, the insurance business is rather ruthless and has no flexibilty. So, now I am faced with an unknown vet bill. I feel like an idiot for not getting things sorted in time but it's been such a spontaneous whirlwind (and I've never been that good at adult things like finance). I'm not that well off financially but am well off with friends & family and I do have a lot of love to give. Friends have beeen so emotionally supportive already (which keeps making my eyes leak!) and suggested I set up a fund for financial support. I was a bit uncomfortable with the concept but have decided to give this ago.
Every pound will help me and Casino and I'll happily offer my famous restorative hugs, home grown veg, love and appreciation to you. And I'm sure Casino will offer his head and belly for many strokes as he recovers and hopefully thrives. I'll share his journey on Facebook to try raise a smile as we go.
