Help for Craig while he Fights Cancer.

The following is a brief story about our journey, so far, with cancer.

Steven Craig Finklea. ❤️

Last year, November 2019, Craig started complaining of some issues he was having, which is super strange, because he never complains! I knew it was something that had to be addressed because he would have never even talked about it if it was something he could handle himself.

We had already planned a trip to Vegas for his 50th birthday , so we went, and he pushed through the pain and issues. We had a great time playing black jack just had to make sure we positioned ourselves in a good area (close to the restrooms ). And we left Vegas with more than we came with, yay to 50th birthday luck. As soon as we got back we started the process for help.

Unfortunately, Craig was uninsured so we had to wait for open enrollment through the market place, then wait for the insurance to become active. As soon as 2020 was here we were on the phone getting appointments scheduled.  We were finally able to get into a colorectal doctor. The doctor scheduled a colonoscopy for January 20th. That was the day we found out it was cancer, and it was large, stage 3, but it had not spread. (Thank you Jesus)

Then next was Chemo and Radiation, at the same time. He actually had chemo for 35 straight days 24 hours a day, and radiation was 5 days a week for 28 days. It was hard and intense and took all he had to stay positive and survive. He made it, but it left him weak and tired and down about 15/20 pounds. And through all of this he continued to work, even when we told him to just stay home, he would still go to work! I call that his stubborn side, but I think it helped him mentally to just keep pushing  through and stay as normal as possible.

We had to wait for the radiation to keep shrinking the tumor and for all the inflammation to minimize. The time finally came to have a follow up colonoscopy and the treatments worked, it shrank the tumor in half, which is fantastic news.

We have always known he would have surgery to remove the cancerous tissue. The doctor finally scheduled it for Monday, June 8th.  Please pray for him.

Craig will be out of work for at least a month, and I thought if I started this Go Fund Me and asked  for help, we could give him some monetary help while he is without a steady paycheck. Hoping that it might just help his mental health a little too.

Anything will help. Thank you for your consideration. We will definitely need all the prayers.  So please keep him in your thoughts during this difficult time for our family!

Thanks again, if you know Craig and want to reach out, please feel free. I’m sure he would love the attention and support!
