Mullingar Lions Club in association with David Smyth Catering have just completed a 14 week Sunday dinner project. The combined effort of preparing and delivering of approx. 200 dinners, each Sunday to the elderly people effected by the lockdown and difficult times of the Coronavirus over the past 3 months was an outstanding success story. Reaching out to people throughout the greater Westmeath region, from Delvin to Kilbeggan, and Rathowen to Kinnegad and everywhere in between. In conjunction with the dinners, other food essentials were provided to those people cocooning. It was a very worthwhile experience overall. This is a project that will be resumed if the need arises again in the near future.
In the effort to defray some of the expenses involved, a 100k cycle is being undertaken on July 12th involving friends and members of Mullingar Lions Club. Any contribution can be made here and would be greatly appreciated.
