Carter's Transition

Donation protected
Hello friends. As many of you know, Carter Anthony Lauchie was born with many unique medical problems that he has been dealing with since he has entered this world. He has been through so much over the past year and although he has held on and has been fighting so hard, his journey on earth is coming to an end. Carters condition is very rare. He has what is called schimmelpenning feurenstein mims syndrome. It happens after conception and is a mutation of something called the KRAS gene. It's very rare and only happens by chance. The doctors said carter should have been a miscarriage but somehow he was able to survive. We think that is nothing but God. He gave Carter to us for a reason and we have come to the conclusion that the reason is to bring joy and hapiness to our lives and to show us what unconditional love is all about. We are so thankful god trusted us with the task as Carter's caregivers and protectors. He knew we would love him no matter what and treat him the same as we would if he was a normal healthy baby. Carter has recently been diagnosed with Germ Cell Cancer. It has come as a shock to us because although we expected him to get some kind of cancer, we didn't expect it to happen so soon. He has a tumor growing in his stomach and around his liver. He had surgery but they weren't able to get all of it out without damaging his muscles. Carter also suffers from a heart arythmia and a type of seizure called infantile spasms. So our little angel has had it rough but Carter being Carter has managed to smile through it all. Carters parents have made the difficult and loving decision to refuse chemo and radiation for Carter and to let him transition naturally. As you can imagine this has been heartbreaking and difficult and is something they spent a lot of time trying to decide. They want Carter to be happy and comfortable in his final days and not sick and suffering. Carter is already unhealthy so aggressive chemo will only make him worse and even if they were able to get rid of that cancer he has a 80% chance of getting another malignant tumor somewhere else and by then his body will not be able to take it. Carter is finally coming home under hospice care after being in the hospital since August of 2014. He is currently happy and we are going to make his final days fun and surround him with love. We don't know how long it will take Carter to transition but the doctors said it could be weeks or months. Carters mom has to go on unpaid family medical leave to care for her son so both Sherese and Anthony will need help with their bills as they have just moved into a house. When Carter does transition, Sherese and Anthony will also need help with Carter's funeral arrangements. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. A lot of you have been here since the beginning and we appreciate your constant words of encouragement and prayers for Sherese and Anthony. Thank you and please keep the prayers coming.
