A note from Heather:

Dear Friends,

I am having a very hard time coming up with exactly how to thank you for your generous gift to my family. With the expense of traveling to and from the hospital, eating at the hospital, and covering the copay with Taylor’s insurance, your gift was gracious and helpful. Taylor is still in the hospital and is slowly feeling better. Each day the strong antibiotics are fighting off the terrible infection. Taylor will be having another surgery to replace her Central Line. She uses her Central Line for IV nutrition as she awaits her transplant. When I read what Jenna wrote about my family, it really hit me when she said, “awaiting the call that will change my daughter’s life.” I rarely take the time to sit back and look at our situation, as when I do, it breaks my heart. God gave me Taylor for a reason, I believe to teach me some strong lessons in becoming a great person. I have learned so much being her mommy and I thank God daily for giving her to me to take care of, it is my pleasure, no matter how hard it is to do so. I have had a few of you ask me how I can keep coming to work, trust me, when I do come, it is a few hours that are good for me to take my mind off of things. I leave her in my husbands very capable hands, with the Playstation and snacks!! I want to say thank you again for your truly gracious gift for my family.

Heather

*************

As some of you may be aware, HPCUMC pre-school teacher Heather Carter’s 18-year-old daughter Taylor is on the transplant list at Cincinnati Children’s (in need of both a new liver and small intestine).

Heather always shows up to school with a smile, you would never know she is anxiously awaiting a phone call that will change her daughter’s life. Each day presents challenges, but last week Taylor was admitted to Children’s with an infection. She had to have surgery this morning and will remain in the hospital for another 1-2 weeks. Heather and her husband trade off being at Taylor’s bedside 24 hours a day.

This fundraising account was created in hope of curbing the financial burden of this hardship for the Carter family. In addition to endless medical costs incurred in the quest for Taylor’s health, Heather and her husband have 4 other children.

There is no donation amount too small, let’s help this family feel supported in their time of need. THANK YOU for giving what you can.
