Carson's Autism Service Dog

Before age 2 our son Carson was diagnosed with Autism.  Since then Carson has been involved with therapy in our home, therapy through outpatient and daily therapy in an Autism school. Recently our family learned about a program that provides service dogs to children on the autism spectrum.  When we first watched a Youtube video posted by a puppy raiser from Perfect Fit Canines, we were hooked and started our research.

After a lengthy application process, Doctor recommendations and a comprehensive family interview, we were more than happy to find out Carson has been accepted into the Perfect Fit Canine program! Hearing the Perfect Fit owners say they could help Carson with alot of his behaviors and keep him safe with the help of one of their service dogs, almost brought us to tears.  

Over the next 2 years while Carson's puppy is being trained, our family will receive training, canine assisted therapy and will finally be matched with a service dog trained to help with the specific behaviors of Carson. Learning that a service dog will keep Carson from wandering off, will track him when he does, and keep him safe in the millions of other situations Autistic children struggle with daily, is a huge relief to our family.
