From the moment we found out we were expecting our baby boy, we were filled with so much love, excitement, and hope for the future. Our family was growing, and we couldn’t wait to meet him.
On February 3rd, 2026, during a routine ultrasound, our world changed in an instant. We were told that our son has a fatal diagnosis. He has no kidneys, no bladder, a hole in his heart, and very little amniotic fluid. These are conditions that are not survivable long-term.
In that moment, we were faced with an unimaginable decision—one no parent should ever have to make. After many tears, conversations, and prayers, we chose to continue the pregnancy so that we could give our son as much love as possible for as long as we are able to have him with us.
Every day since then has been filled with both love and heartbreak. We talk to him, we cherish every movement, and we are holding onto every moment we get. At the same time, we are preparing for the reality that our time with him will be incredibly short.
As we approach his birth, we are also preparing to say goodbye. We are doing our best to stay strong for our children and for each other, but the emotional and financial weight of this journey has been overwhelming.
My significant other will be taking two weeks of paternity leave so we can spend every possible moment with our son and grieve together as a family. During that time, we will have no income, as he is our sole provider.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Funeral and memorial expenses to honor our baby boy
• Hospital and medical bills
• Basic living expenses while we are out of work
• Food and day-to-day needs for our family during this time
This is incredibly hard for us to ask, but we know we cannot do this alone.
If you are able to donate, share, or keep our family in your thoughts and prayers, it truly means more than we can put into words. Your support will allow us to focus on loving our son for however long we have him, and on healing as a family after his passing.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for standing with us during the most difficult time of our lives.
With love,
Schroeder/Gall Family
