Carry On For Cayde

For those of you who know me, you know that all of my life I have struggled with chronic asthma. Being an athlete I was constantly faced with this recurrent hurdle, making my athletic careers a constant battle. Learning about strength and perseverance from a young age. As someone who has looked after this little man and his sister from the very  beginning, I feel that as time goes on I should be the one teaching them.. It turns out they are actually the ones that have been teaching me. In one short year I learned far more about both strength and perseverance from an infant, than 15 years of competitive sports and 24 years of life experience could have ever taught me. In December of 2016, Cayde was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer (LCH). In one year, Cayde has already fought a battle bigger than most people fight in their entire lives. Through endless chemo treatments and weekly hospital visits, Caydes infectious  smile and contagious laugh have yet to falter. Strength and perseverance at its finest. Which is why I am choosing to challenge myself by facing my biggest battle, in order to help a family who has stood by my side and showered me with unyielding love and support over the past 5 years. On October 14th, With Caydes name across my shoulders and with great purpose in my heart, I will be lacing up my sneakers to participate in the Brooklyn half marathon. I am reaching out to my friends and family, asking for sponsors as I take on this 13.1 mile challenge.  All proceeds will go directly to Cayde and his family to allow for his continued treatment and to assist in the inevitable pile up of medical bills.  Anything that you are able to contribute is appreciated beyond words.
