Beach Hockey Classic

Dear Friends,

Last summer the inaugural Beach Hockey Classic, a charity event honoring the life of 11-year-old hockey player and cancer fighter, Patrick Carr, was a smash hit! An estimated 2,500 supporters from far and wide converged on the sands of Charlotte Beach in Rochester, NY to participate in one of the most memorable and exciting charity events the Rochester community has ever witnessed. 

 Although originally intended to give Patrick a day he would never forget the “Lil’ Fighter” lost his battle just days prior. Proceeds from the event were ultimately donated to Patrick’s family to assist them as they dealt with the financial burden and emotional loss of their young son.

Hockey enthusiasts, cancer survivors, professional athletes, business owners, artists, youth hockey families, and throngs of media embraced the event. In recognition of Patrick’s unfathomable love for hockey a 33-team Beach Hockey Tournament was held in Patrick’s honor. Event-goers also enjoyed music, vendors, and auctions, much of which was donated. The atmosphere was absolutely electric!

 This year’s 2016 Beach Hockey Classic will be held on July 9th again at Charlotte Beach in Rochester, NY. Team registration for this year’s event is at capacity, as we expect attendees from as far as Long Island, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts and Canada. 

 The Beach Hockey Classic is proud to have added Deb Carr, mother of Patrick Carr, to our team of passionate cancer fighters. With Mrs. Carr on board, we are in the process of establishing and maintaining a hockey-themed recreation room at the Golisano Children’s Hospital in memory her “Lil’ Fighter.” This is a major financial commitment and we are determined to get it done for Patrick!
