Hello,

I am Carrie Phelps. Two years ago (Oct. 2014) I was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. After extensive surgery, 18 weeks of chemotherapy, and tons of support from my friends and family I was able to "beat" the cancer (my PET scan came back "cancer free").

Unfortunately, it did not last long. I have found out that the cancer has come back "agressively". Needless to say, I have been in a bit of a tailspin.

The time around, however, I am not so quick to jump into the treatment plan I did before. Not because I don't believe in the healing power of traditional medicine (it could have given me an extra year), but because I figure that if it did not "cure" me the first time, why would in cure me this time.

I am also much more educated now on the down side of traditional treatments and feel that chemotherapy alone--with no integrative or alternative treatments  (which is what my mainstream oncologist is recommending) may end up doing even more harm than good in the long run (e.g., cancer cells that become immunce to treatment and come back even more aggresively, severely compromised immune system, debilitating side effects, body systems imbalance, etc).

This time around I know that I have to do everything I can to support my immune system; keep my healthy cells healthy; approach this holistically--physically, mentally, and spiritually; and get even more determined in my self-care, as well as intake tradional treatments such as chemo (if that's what it takes).

Additioanlly, I am determined to take an active role in my treatment and healing process and to learn more about the many therapies and options that are available to those with cancer, and to implement a plan that makes most sense in my head, heart, and gut (literally).

This is why, after much exploration, prayer, and study, I have decided to go to Sanoviv for their cancer treatment program (for more inforation Google Sanoviv). At Sanoviv I will be working with a team of functional medicine doctors and healers--oncologist, nutritionist, chiropractor, psychologist, energy workers, massage therapist, etc. The treatments I will be receiving are both traditional and "alternative".

My goal is to understand as much as I can about the root cause of my illness and to work with a team of professionals who will answer my questions, treat me with care and respect, and help me design a plan that works for my unique case. I have not been able to find that here in the US. I am happy to share more about this with anyone if you want to know more.

After I go through Sanoviv's complete cancer program I will continue my treatment here in the states. I am raising money to help me pay for the Sanoviv program, which is approximately $30,000  (plus any extras that I might need like surgery, other tests, noncovered treatments, and copays once I return to the US, which could be close to $15,000). I will be paying for the Sanoviv program out-of-pocket and therefore need help covering the cost.

All the money I raise will go toward my out-of-pocket medical expenses. I leave for Sanoviv on Oct. 23. Being able to raise the money to cover my expenses will be a godsend and I am asking for your support of you feel led to help me.

I plan on sharing my experiene with all of you--the good, the bad, and the ugly in hopes that what I learn may help others in my situation (what worked and what didn't work for me). Truth is, no one has the answers on the best way to fight this disease, so I have to follow what is true for me. I appreciate you and thank you for your support.

Be well,

Carrie
