Since 1967 the Carousel has been a part of our neighborhood. Almost two years ago we reopened following a major face lift with the simple goal to be your friendly neighborhood dive bar.
We were directed by QuickBooks to try this Small Business Relief Initiative to try to help our staff with their short term needs during this first few weeks of being closed. Any funds raised here will be distributed solely among our eleven employees. We are trying to raise 1,000 per person by March 31st and thank you in advance for reading on. Whatever we manage to raise will be disbursed then and we will take down the campaign.
We LOVE our customers, we love being a hub for local music, pool and dart leagues. We LOVE the energy and we have loved serving you.
As we all know Anchorage closed Bars and Restaurants about a week ago and at the moment we hope that we may be able to re-open early April, but who really knows. Restaurants are permitted to deliver take-out, which is great, but for bars like us it meant simply shutting our doors :-( We are happy to do this if it brings this nightmare to a close faster BUT it has put a tremendous strain on our new business and our fantastic staff who many of you reading this have come to know.
It may look like bars are "rolling" in it but the truth is much different. Winters are tough and we were just coming out of a terrible cold snap which kept many home for weeks on end. January and February are slow regardless but this winter was much tougher than last. We have used our reserves to pay off our vendors (who are also feeling this) and to keep our essential utilities and services going. There is just precious little left.
Linda, Hanna, Rhiannon, Shelby, Irene, Gary, Sadie, Amy, Aseca, Alex and Evanie thank you in advance. Your support will help us tremendously as we get through this difficult time. Our gratitude is overwheming and we cannot wait to get back to providing the most fun and safe experience in Spenard!
