Carolyn's Recovery

Donation protected
Saturday, March 3, 2018, my sister-in-law, Carolyn, was critically injured in a head on collision in Orlando, FL. Carolyn damaged her spleen, both lungs, and her pancreas. The doctors removed her spleen, along with about 20% of her pancreas. In addition, she broke both legs, along with her left wrist. She was admitted into Intensive Care and we did not know if she would make it thru the night.  She had not regained consciousness and they did not know why.  But God still has plans for Carolyn & she made it thru the night and her recovery so far is purely miraculous.

She underwent surgery on Monday for her left wrist and left leg. It was after that surgery  we were told that the Carolyn would be confined to a wheelchair for 60 to 90 days after she was released from hospital.  She is not allowed to bear any weight on the left side for those 60 – 90 days.

On  Wednesday, only four days after the accident she was moved to a Step-Down-Intensive Care Unit and by the following Saturday (only one week after the accident) she was moved to the Rehabilitation Floor  where she is  building up her strength and learning to get in and out of the wheelchair with only being able to bear weight on the right side. The break in the right leg was not that bad and they have just had to put a brace on it but she is allowed to bear weight on the right side. The doctors are releasing her, April 4.   While we are so grateful that she is able to go home, this in itself brings some challenges.

She will be wheelchair bound for 60-90 days and will not be able to work. She does  not have any short or long term disability.  As she regains her strength, she hopes to perhaps work from home or return to work in the wheelchair but already the bills are piling up.

She and my brother  need the help of others, from their Church, along with their family, friends and their local community via this Go-Fund-Me account.  On top of their medical bills they are looking at all the same bills each of us looks at each month (mortgage, utilities, food, etc)  only with very limited income. While this is not our first choice of how to handle this it is a way for us to help them at this point in time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
