Our mother, Carol, was in a very serious car accident while driving to work at Home Depot on Halloween morning. She was hit head on by an oncoming truck that came into her lane while trying to pass cars in his lane. The impact was such that they had to remove the doors and the roof with the Jaws of Life and pull her straight up
and out of the wreck. We are so thankful that she wasn't killed.
Needless to say, her injuries are overwhelming and extensive. Nearly every bone in both of her legs have been broken, she has 7 broken ribs, 3 fractured disks in her neck, a cracked sternum, broken elbow and multiple internal injuries.
She is in the Trauma Center ICU Critical Care Unit at Ocala Regional Medical Center where she has already undergone one surgery to put her legs back together and is scheduled for two more surgeries in a few days. She has a very long road to recovery ahead of her.
Anyone who knows Carol knows that she is unstoppable. She and our dad do free-diving and swimming. She swims with the manatees at Blue Springs Park. She is an amazing gardener and loves her koi pond, birds, flowers and everything nature has to offer almost as much as she loves her family and friends.
We are hoping to raise money to help pay her bills and uncovered expenses so her mind will be at ease allowing her to concentrate on recovering over the next months/years as she and our dad live on a fixed income.
