Caroline's Medical Emergency Fund

Hi! My name is Marie and I am starting this campaign to help my mother Caroline who was recently admitted to intensive care and put in a medically induced coma due to severe acute pancreatitis. My mum is a mother of five kids, two of which are young, aged 15 or under. As a single mother most of her life she has worked hard as a teacher and tutor to earn money for the family. With her, in a coma, we are in dire need of money in order to keep the house she worked so hard for and to afford food and bills.

My mum Caroline has worked her whole life to afford the best life possible for her kids, all by herself working all the hours God sent and still living below the poverty line. Having suffered in the past, she finally managed to get a nice house and build her relationships but she was tragically taken in an ambulance on the 13th of August suffering from severe stomach pains. What started as gallstones quickly evolved into a complication case of severe acute pancreatitis in which a hole in her pancreas caused bile to leak into her stomach cavity causing severe damage. A few days in she was put on a ventilator as her lungs stopped functioning normally due to pleural effusion. As of now, she has been placed in an induced coma in order for her body to deal with the damage. This coma is likely to last upwards of two months as her pancreas is dissolved by bile until it is either destroyed or very little remains before they can operate on her pancreas.

As you can understand, being a single mother of five lovely children most of her life she did everything for us and more. It is obvious now that she is gone just how much she did. She was a primary school teacher, trainee teacher of the deaf, and more recently a private tutor. Every one of us is heartbroken and wishes we could do more to help her, but we trust the medical team looking after her are doing their best. I am too sick to work, and her two older children work 5 days a week but still cannot afford to keep the family afloat.

We are asking for this money so that we can pay rent, council tax, and utility bills so that our mum can hopefully recover and look forward to her lovely house still being here for her. We don't want to lose what she has worked so hard to build. She worked so hard that she ignored earlier signs of illness in order to work as she did not have sick pay. Her youngest kids also need this money for food and clothing for going back to school. We are hoping this will cover the money needs for the next three months of her coma.
