CaroAnto Amelio Onlus Non Profit Work Week

The CaroAnto Amelio Onlus Non Profit is a beautiful organization working in Italy, using an original therapy methodology targeting children with disabilities and their families.
This past summer, I traveled to Trento, Italy, to take part in a work week for these families and their children alongside my good family friend and leader of this organization, Carolina Amelio.
Throughout the week, I assisted and witnessed various therapies and activities working with these children and their families and saw amazing growth from the beginning to the end of the work week. By the end of this very emotional week, it was clear to me why these weeks are so important. I witnessed extreme growth of relationships between parent and child, parents became more open about their struggles, siblings of the disabled understood their brothers/sisters more than they had before and ultimately, everyone left the week feeling like their issues were respected, understood and most importantly knew how to move forward.
At the summer week in 2020, it’s intended focus is: training, information, comparison, introspection and relaxation. With all of these combined with many families all sharing one commonality, to better their disabled child, the week is set to do wonders. Though a neuropsychiatrist will not be present, many other therapists will be, including: a speech therapist, Braille instructor, music therapist, family (separated by parents and siblings) counselor, physical therapist, and so many more.
I loved being apart of this past week and plan on taking part next summer, but that can only happen if the work week is funded for. I am fundraising money for the work week to happen and hope many of you will find some time to donate for this amazing cause.
