Most of you don't know this... 21 days ago my mom suffered a Hemorrhagic Stroke & Aneurism in Mexico. I booked the first available flight and stayed there for 14 days, putting everything on hold, including my two kids, husband, job, etc.. ...I just flew back but my sis @Maribel Becerra is still there helping dad with mom's recovery. (Joe, Cesar, @Abel Becerra, @Lizette Ortiz, @YeSenia Becerra & @Heather Bellomo were awesome and so supportive... their love, prayers & encouragement were such a strong presence & helped us tremendously every step of the way, especially when Maribel & I felt our hearts couldn't take any more) As horrific as this experience was, we, the siblings, pulled together and remained strong for not only our mother but our father too. We typically keep our family matters private but have now realized that there is very little awareness of Hemorrhagic Strokes, Aneurisms and Brain Surgery. Lord knows we were completely lost, panicked and petrified! We googled every foreign word, medical term, spanish prescription & hospital injection that crossed us. This was frustrating & challenging as internet was spotty, weak or inexistent. WE WANT TO RAISE AWARENESS!!!! God forbid one of you are faced with a similar situation, you should have somewhere to turn for info, help, support & love. This was so sudden, an eye opener for us, a wake up call and a true test of our endurance in more ways than one. With that said, we are putting our pride aside and are going to help raise the $20K it cost to save my mom's life, (as my dad doesn't have that kind of money). We are so grateful for Dr Topete, (my dad's friend who initiated the road to my mom's recovery) Dr Valadez, (our primary doctor who was our Liaison & translator between medical language and our own) Dr Orozco (our Neurologist) & Dr Meza (our Neurosurgeon)... my mom's angels/neurological team. Without them, my mother would not be here today.
We'd like to welcome any ideas in fundraising as we have never done anything like it. Please private message any one of us if you are interested, willing and able to help with ideas. We are forever grateful and thank you to the few friends & family who knew and prayed for my mom along the way, from the Becerra family!
PS -My mom is slowly & gracefully recovering. She is strong, determined, bald (for now) & beautiful! I have documented and photographed the entire experience and will be making her a journal.
LLL= Live/Laugh/Love as tomorrow is not promised!
