Carmen is a dear friend who suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm on July 12, the day before her birthday. Prior to this, she was healthy, vibrant, and full of energy.
She was in the ICU for 24 days and had to be put on a ventilator. She had undergone a craniectomy to prevent further brain injury. The CT scan revealed another aneurysm that would need coiling surgery in the future to prevent another brain bleed.
Right now, Carmen is waiting to be transferred to a long-term rehabilitation care facility. She is still not able to swallow well and had to be on a feeding tube. She also cannot speak and follow instructions. Her doctors say it may take a minimum of 12 months for her recovery.
We are organizing this fundraising campaign to help cover hospital medical costs and other subsequent rehabilitation and recovery care expenses.
Everyone who knows Carmen would attest to her kindness, joyful and energetic disposition. She loves the Lord and would often lead people to prayer and a conversation about God, even total strangers.
Although it is heartbreaking for us to see her in her current condition, we are grateful to God for saving her life and for her daily progress. We are certain that God has a wonderful plan despite all these things and that God will complete His good work in her life. We are praying for her full recovery. We dare to believe for the impossible, for such is the extent to which God can.
