Carmen #Strong

Perserverence, loyalty and genuine are some words that can describe Carmen Rivera as a person. For those that don’t know who Carmen is, she holds the fort down at the Orlando Delivery Center At TEKsystems since the Day 1 as our Customer Support Associate. She is the glue that holds our office family  together and keeps us running efficiently.

Carmen found out that she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast cancer on February 11th. Our office has decided to come together and brainstorm the best and most effective way to support her during this difficult time. We are hoping to ease some of the financial burden that this disease has caused in her and her family’s life in such a short amount of time. Not many know what fighting cancer can cost, so every penny, prayer, thought, and action counts.

My mom is easily the most incredible person I have in my life - I know every child says that. But if you know her, then you know it’s true. She has played the role of both father and mother for the majority of my life as well as the life of my older brother. She’s sacrificed her entire life for ours.

At the age of 29, she found herself widowed with two young kids to look after - not to mention a massive amount of medical school debt. She got through this.



We moved from Texas for a better life. And by herself, she gave John, my brother, and I the absolute best. I am the person I am because of her and her only. Her strength and courage are unmatched.

This cancer diagnosis has completely rocked our world. Although, I am grateful that her prognosis is at Stage 1 and everything seems like it’s going in a positive direction - I know the finances will stack up rather quickly. I truly don’t want her to stress about any of her ever-piling medical bills. I just need her to focus on her and her health. This chapter in her life; she will also get through.

My mom is a giver. If you need her, she’ll drop whatever it is to be there for you. If you need her advice, she’s willing to give it. If you want to be heard, she’s willing to lend her ear. I know how much she is loved and appreciated by so many. I also know how greatly she would appreciate any sized donation, a prayer, a thought, whatever it may be, during this very difficult time.

As of now, she’s getting surgery on February 28th for a bilateral lumpectomy - from there on, her amazing team of doctors will evaluate her for potential further treatments. Thank you so much for taking the time out to read just a snippet of her story and thank you to those for the help.
