Carmarthen Free Books burglary repairs
Donation protected
Over Easter weekend 2019, the Carmarthen Free Books charity shop was burgled. During the burglary, as well as donations and items being stolen, considerable damage was done to the front door. Whilst temporary strengthening repairs have been done to the door to make it safe and secure, the police have recommended that we urgently replace the door with a new composite door. This will greatly improve our security and give us peace of mind. The shop has been quoted just under £1000 for the replacement and fitting of this new door. The aim is to raise funds to cover this cost.
We give away 90% of our stock for free to any person, school or organisation that wants books or materials for education. The donations and items we sell in the store are our only means of income, and we rely on them totally to fund all of our work.
