Carless Family Support Fund

On Monday January 15th my sister Julie Carless had to rush her husband Steve to the emergency for severe back and abdominal pain. Initial CT scans indicated a blood clot in the main (MVT) artery that pumps blood from the stomach to the intestine. After a 4-hour emergency surgery, they discovered that what they saw was not a blood clot but a 3 inch tear in the main abdominal artery and a small aneurysm in the lower abdomen. They repaired the tear, but the diagnosis is a connective tissue disease that causes deterioration and weakening the arteries. This puts Steve at risk for other tears or aneurysms, and the medical team has concerns with him having delayed healing from surgery. Steve will need to be in the hospital for at least 10 days, as long as no complications occur. Steve will need to be out of work for an unknown amount of time, and with only minimal short term disability, and high insurance deductibles they are going to be in desperate need of financial help. So many people have reached out to me asking what they can do to assist Julie, Steve and their family. All their focus needs to be on helping Steve heal and recover from surgery, and I don’t want to see them worrying about finances.
