Update from Carla

November 14, 2017
Well looks like I’m heading in for a busy week, and then for surgery down in Vancouver.

I had an oncologist appointment last Thursday and she went over my last pathology report. It seems that my cancer has mutated into a sarcoma. So now I have a carcinoma and a sarcoma.
I think they will know more after this surgery.

I have a PET scan scheduled for the 18th and my oncologist has set up an appointment for me with POG on the 22nd (They take the tutor after surgery and do a genetic test on it. Their hope is to find a more direct chemo for me as Mitotane is not working.)

The Pre Op appointment is set for the 21st and surgery is on the 23rd. I have three tumors they will be removing.

So 6 surgeries in the past 3 years, oh fun! :)

Prayers:
That all the tutors can be removed
That surgery goes well, no complication
That POG can find a cameo that works
That this will be the last Surgery :)
FOR HEALING :) because I will never stop praying <3

"Well, where does one start? I talked with my oncologist the other day and was told the cancer is back. The tumor is in the same original surgical site 6.7cm in size. I will be going for a PET scan in the next week and a bit and then surgery to have it removed (same major operation as before) in about three weeks or so. Both in Vancouver. It's so hard knowing that almost 1 1/2 years of being cancer free I have to start all over. Getting literally cut in half, going through the ribs and then deflating the lung, (chest tube here we come so exciting ) Part of me wants to get discouraged with God and blame Him but I know better. I've cried a lot and I'm so glad God collects all my tears! My faith will always and forever be in Him no matter what. Don't know why He's allowing me to walk this road but here I am and He is right beside me, never going to leave me. (Especially when I get frustrated, scared or discouraged) Don't know the dates yet but Jerry and I both know that he can't take the time off work (good thing I have parents to take me to the hospital, family and friends to occupy my time.) So this is the road we're on and we just have to deal....here we go again, one day at a time "

The last ten months have taken Carla and her family on a journey they never could have immagined.

In November 2014, Carla was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer in the adrenal gland. She had a large tumor which they removed on December 9th, 2014. They were able to remove the tumor wholly and began chemo in February 2015 to reduce the chances of reoccurence, which would show in the lungs and liver. A CT scan in May 2015 showed no sign of cancer in both those areas but in June, she was taken to hospital where they found a tumor on her brain. It was successfully removed as well, and her physical recovery was quite amazing. However, the emotional strain from both the surgeries and the treatment is quite debilitating.

Following her MRI next week, decisions will be made about radiation treatment and what that will look like. Jerry's boss has been very understanding and has given him liberty to take as much time as he needs to look after Carla. But unfortunately, there are still bills to be paid and so he has returned to work which, as a long haul trucker, keeps him away from home for 4 or 5 days at a time.

The reason we have started this page is to relieve the financial strain so that Jerry can spend more time at home when Carla needs him to be there. Carla has touched many of our lives and we thank you for your support in giving back to her and her family. Every donation counts, no matter how small!
