We are setting up this GoFundMe for Carl Torode to cover funeral and related expenses. We are hoping you can contribute.
Carl died from natural causes related to his Type 1 Diabetes unexpectedly in London, late June 2025, at just 60 years of age. He had just attended a fast track British passport renewal meeting as he was planning to travel back to the Antipodes by way of Vanuatu, in the very near future.
Carl had lived a smaller life in the UK over the past few years due to health and financial difficulties and though seemingly reclusive was bright, cheery and happy when meeting or talking with family and friends.
He wasn't earning much and though we are yet to gain a full understanding of his financial situation we know that the costs of a cremation and fitting celebration of his life will fall to others, especially his mother Janet, and sister Sonja. Unfortunately this cost will not easily absorbed by them.
In discussion around the wider family Carl's uncle, Paul and myself, Warrick (Cousin) have taken it upon ourselves to arrange a fundraising effort for family and friends to contribute towards the costs of:
- Carls cremation
- a fitting Funeral/Memorial service in London (to be recorded and live streamed for family and friends abroad)
- Sonja's transport from Australia to manage the cremation and financial affairs
- the accompaniment of his ashes to his Mother in Australia
- the freighting of a few memento's, including his guitar, back to Janet and Sonja's family.
Some family and friends have already contributed directly to Sonja so their names will not appear here. Thank you for your kind consideration of this big ask, and your kind thoughts that have been filtering back to us at this difficult time.
