Caring for the Colemans

Donation protected

My name is Traci Coker, and I have created this GoFundMe to help raise funds for some of my dearest and best friends of almost 23 years who have lost almost everything they have to Hurricane Harvey. All funds raised will go directly to the family to help them rebuild their lives in the wake of all this destruction.

Hurricane Harvey has and continues to leave many families devastated and without homes. The Coleman's are such a family. You will never hear Jeff, Christie, Cameron or Cade complain or claim to be anything other than blessed. You will hear them ask where they are needed or what can they do to help. If you know them, you know they will sacrifice, scrape by or will literally give you the clothes off their backs to help out. They do every day.

This family is one of the strongest of faith I have ever witnessed. The boys, as I call them, are seeking careers in ministry. Cameron is attending Lone Star College -- Kingwood (also affected) working on a degree in Philosophy then off to Youth Ministry! Cade is a senior working on dual credit courses at Lone Star as well. Both of these boys are active leaders in the Youth and Music Ministries at Second Baptist Church - Cypress Campus.

The Colemans recently moved from Cypress to Huffman, Texas where they were planning to build their new home. To help Jeff and Christie progress toward their goal and help cut expenses so they could funnel their money into building that dream home, Jeff's parents offered up their RV. So all four of the Coleman's happily occupied the 400 square foot space on the property they were to build, next door to Jeff's sister.

So far 2017, has been less than kind and they have had to continuously put off moving forward with their plans to build to combat the next big battle at hand. Both Jeff and Christie's parents have suffered health issues this year. Christie and the youngest of the boys, Cade, both suffer from autoimmune diseases that remain a constant battle.  Continuous doctors visits, immune replacement therapies and astronomical medical and pharmaceutical bills.  The hardest setback, up to this point, being on June 23rd, when Christie's dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate Cancer.

Now Harvey has claimed both the RV and his sister's residence. Unfortunately, the Coleman's were temporarily storing their furniture and belongings in his sister's garage. Now they have several items of clothing and a few personal belongings that they had taken with them when they sought refuge at Christie's parents' in Cypress.

Regardless of their hardships, this family has remained steadfast, loving stewards in their faith. The Coleman's give all and ask for nothing in return. They have lost so much. They have lost their home. Although they have the foundation of their faith, they have no physical one upon which to build.

Please help me in giving back to this beautiful family a little of what they have given to their family, friends, church, and community. It is our turn to give back.
