Caring For Kollen

Donation protected
My Dearest sister in law and brother in law’s 3 year old son Kollen from West Memphis, AR was diagnosed with a rare brain disorder and malformation just this past week. After a traumatic car accident in Memphis, TN, Kollen was taken to Baptist Pediatrics where they discovered that Kollen’s brain had Prematurely fused to his skull with no room left to grow and he had a tremendous amount of pressure and fluid and without multiple procedures and surgeries, Kollen could face serious challenges or worse. Although the accident was traumatic and frightening, the family is greatly blessed for the incident as otherwise they wouldn’t have known about the disorder. Unfortunately, the doctors discovered that Kollen was actually born with these medical conditions and the doctors missed them all along. The heartache and fear that the family is facing right now is overwhelming and first and foremost, prayers are mandatory.

The next few months will be a challenge to Chelsea, KJ, Kollen and his brother Owen, not to mention the growing baby girl that Chelsea is expecting in November. The time necessary to get back and forth to the doctor appointments, the sleepless nights, recovery, and anxiety that comes with such operations is only a portion of what their family will face. The family would greatly appreciate any assistance with the significant anticipated medical bills, transportation and related costs, which are not covered by insurance. The urgency by which a family needs assistance at a time like this is always immediate and deep. Any gift of love is appreciated and will benefit for Kollen's behalf in this difficult time.

If you have ever met Kollen however, you would know that his spirit and resolve cannot be broken. His smile is infectious and his laughter can light up a room. Kollen is loving and charming and loves to play with his brother and is always on the go. He loves playing football, coloring, and helping mommy in the house and just all around being with his Big Daddy! When he isn’t at home with his mommy and daddy he is spending time with his grandparents, Mawmaw and Meme and Pappy and Pop.

Kollen is the best little brother and we are anticipating him to be the best big brother to his soon to be here baby sister. His Big Daddy is his best friend and follows in his footsteps and watches every move he makes. As one of 5 grandchildren, his cousins keep him busy and happy and on the move. They have taught him to sing and jump and dance and swim and for sure, mischief!

It can suffice to say that Kollen is a rough and tumble blonde headed beautiful boy that has stolen all of our hearts. We want you all to know that #caringforkollen is our priority and we will stop at nothing until Kollen can play once again like a normal and happy boy.

The Winders family is incredibly grateful for your friendship, kindness, and support and sincerely appreciate your continued support for Kollen with the prayers, messages, and contributions. All of you have enabled the family to focus their time and attention on Kollen as they navigate this "new normal" and plans for treatment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
