Hi everyone. Thank you so much for visiting.
Sweet Calvin is 7 and has what's called "SOX2 Anophthalmia Syndrome."
Calvin has an extremely rare version of this syndrome and is 1 out of 40 people in the world who have it to this extreme. Born without eyes and proper hearing capabilities, Calvin is both blind and deaf. He is susceptible to many problems and has to be connected to all sorts of monitoring equipment and oxygen tanks at all times. He also has to be fed by a feeding tube.
● He loves anything that is soft and textured.
● He likes his hands and feet rubbed.
● He likes the vibrations in the car and bus.
● He loves being in the water and getting splashed a little
● He enjoys snuggling when he is sick.
● He likes scrunching tissue paper and pom poms with his toes and fingers
● He's starting to enjoy getting his hair shampooed.
The family receives some help from the state for some in-home nursing care for Calvin, but its very limited and they need to be there with the nurses for just about anything and everything. Calvin goes through many complications and they have to take him to the hospital a few times a week lately, making it incredibly difficult for them to have regular jobs with a regular schedule to bring in enough money to support the family- so they both work multiple part-time jobs just to stay afloat. They also have two wonderful girls who love and help Calvin the best way they can.
ME - WITH ONE OF THEIR CATS
I moved in with them temporarily to try and help with the house, yard work, cleaning, etc, and watch the girls when they need someone to be there for them. I'm desperately asking for help for them, because they are such nice people and they are suffering like I've never seen someone suffer. It's heart breaking and I pray daily for things to change in their favor, but the medical bills keep coming in and it's more than any of us can afford financially.
DAD WITH CALVIN AT THE HOSPITAL - They've had to take Calvin to the Hospital multiple times a week in 2018.
Please help if you can. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to come here and read this. I really appreciate it, even if you just keep us in your thoughts. To help get the word out, you can share the link to your Facebook Timeline!”
