Caring for Cheree

On April 10th, Cheree called 911 for a terrible pain in her head and neck. After collapsing and being brought by ambulance to the hospital, she was admitted and was found to have had a catastrophic stroke. She was in perfect health otherwise, and we later found out this stemmed from an AVM — something she was born with, that chose this moment, 61 years into her life, to rupture.
After surgeries to better her chances of survival, she miraculously made it through the night. But as a stroke this severe goes, it is very hard to know what kind of functioning comes back and what is gone forever.
That same evening, her 21-year-old daughter was the emergency contact, was called by the hospital, and flew home from her semester in Spain to be with her mom. She is now back at home to be with her mom until she has to go back to her last semester at Northeastern University in September.
Cheree is the light of every friendship she has, and has been known by everyone to be the most selfless and giving person. She has worked at the JCRC for just over ten years, is a devoted mother, and an outstanding member of the Jewish community in Minnesota and beyond.
We do know now that the outcome looks grave. That being said, there are and will be significant medical bills and associated costs. She is currently staying at a long-term acute care facility that is not covered by her insurance. Anything you can donate is very much appreciated by Cheree's "care team" of devoted friends who have become family for Cheree and her daughter at this time.
Luckily, we have had amazing friends help out with many things, and for that we cannot thank you enough.
