On September 1st I had an at home accident & had to go to the hospital...once at the hospital they found a medical condition involving my intestines being twisted & filled with blood clots to the point of basically closing off the intestinal tract and causing lots of pressure in multiple areas of my lower body including numbness in my legs. I had emergency surgery on Sept 4th performed by a specialist which was very successful and I spent several days in the hospital. This is most likely related to a surgery I had 2.5 years ago when my diaphragm herniated & allowed all of my organs/intestines to move into my chest cavity & had to be pushed back down. After some time the intestines twisted themselves & caused the blood clots. Recovery time from this surgery is approximately 3 weeks, leaving me out of work for 28 days. Unfortunately, due to having related health complications over the summer I have exhausted my sick leave time at work & do not qualify for our disability as they have a 30 day waiting period. I am a single mother, with many utility bills including rent, PG&E, car payment, insurance (including me still being responsible for my health care premiums through my job),schooling for my daughter, and mostly importantly, groceries. I also have medical bills that are already starting to come in with just the copay at $500 plus percentages of the surgery, the hospital stay, prescriptions, and the follow ups at the Specialist's office in the upcoming weeks.
