Carina Lewis EP

It's time to release the first Carina Lewis EP this fall!

It's taken me a lifetime to find my voice. Ha! Ok. It was always there. I always knew I was a singer and protected that part of me more fiercely than just about anything. But only now, is it really mine. And now... all I really want to do is share it with all of you!

It's been such a long time coming. The years have come and gone (as have the relationships, record contracts and unreleased albums) and all that chaos has created something beautiful.

This is the time. But we need a little assistance giving this bird wings. That's where you come in!

What's it like to come to one of our shows?
A little like this lil video below. Well, a lot. ;) Heh. ("Rest Here"  isn't on the EP but will be on the album we release next year!! )

What kind of music is that? We get that question a lot! Along with combo comparisons like "D'Angelo meets Nina Simone" or "Solange meets James Blake" or, most recently, "Sade meets Alt J." What do we say? We love those comparisons! What an honor. But if we have to pick genres - we're neosoul / soul / RnB... among others. :D

Who's in this band?
Carina Lewis  on vox and songwriting.
Alex Westad on bass, guitar and sequencer (and in the producer's chair for the EP!)
James Mansour on drums and prophet.
Nik Singleton  on background vox and percussion

So, this Carina... who is she really?
Funny you should ask, Luke Dumke of Pinehill Studios  gifted us this little beauty (thank you Sarah Gerritsen  and Women in Music Seattle!) This video was to show the 'real' artist. Not the face of the brand. It features a live version of "Baby Boy," one of the songs that will be on this EP we need your help with!
(We've got a bio at the bottom if you're jonesing for more. ;)

What do you need money for?
** Finishing up this EP! We're almost done recording. The EP will be 4 songs in length, to include our two singles, “Cheating Lips” & “Baby Boy.” We need help to pay for mixing, mastering and artwork.

**We need some new pics! We have a big shoot in the works with Kathryn Stevens of Atlas Photo Co. That glorious golden shot at the top of this page? She did that. Kathryn also shot these :

**We have 2 videos in the works. We will be working with the ever talented Luke Dumke of Pinehill Studios  once again to create -
A good quality video of one of our more upbeat songs to               represent our live vibe.
And... a video of our cover of "Jolene / Long Lost"
The following video was the first time we ever performed "Jolene / Long Lost." And it was shot during our VERY FIRST SHOW supporting LEMOLO  at the Ballard Homestead.

This past year of prep and performance and recording has been incredibly rewarding. I couldn't ask for a better music community than the one I've found right here in my hometown of Seattle. I can't begin to express my gratitude. Thank YOU for taking a few moments to read and consider helping us out!

A few things recently said about Carina and her music :

"That voice came out of her?!"

"Can Carina come with me and sing to me everywhere I go?"

"Her lyrics make me feel powerful... and want to be more honest."

"How the hell is she not famous?"

"Carina's voice is like a good cocktail."

"There's a person who's found their instrument."

BIO:

"Carina Lewis, out of Seattle, is a voice to be reckoned with. A life fully lived has culminated in music steeped in honesty, passion and pain. Her deep and sultry vocals mesmerize and seem to have the power to tame the rowdiest of crowds.

After years of lending her chops, via background vocals, to numerous incredible musicians (Sarah Gerritsen , Kara Hesse , Susan G ,  Andrea Marie  , Old Coast , Beth Whitney , Zach Fleury ... &…&...), Carina is finally releasing her own music.

These days Carina is backed by Alex Westad on guitar, bass and in the producer's chair, James Mansour on drums and prophet and Nik Singleton  bringing in her own gorgeous background vox as well as percussion. Their sound is based in Neosoul / RnB, but is certainly not limited to it.

Carina's recently released "Cheating Lips" has been a long time coming. The single is unexpected, with a good measure of pop added to her usual soul. Baby Boy, the singer's second single, is a simpler, more brooding mother's lullaby with electronic elements peppered throughout. Versatility and transparency abound in Carina's music, tugging at the deep places in listener's hearts. "
