Care Kits for Homeless Without Shelter

Donation protected
Dear Neighbors,

Did you know over there are over 700 homeless adults and children currently living in Boise?  Our local shelters try, but are unable to accommodate every person in need, even on the coldest winter nights.  Many of the existing resources are not accessible to these residents of our own community.

I’m writing to ask you to support me and my “Personal Project” which is an opportunity every 10th grader at Riverstone International School participates in. The goal for each student to create and carry out a project meaningful to them and their community, utilizing their skills and passions. I have designed a personal project with two objectives: 1) to help the homeless in our local community who are without housing and essential items for survival and 2) to bring awareness to my peers about the need for compassion and assistance by providing these resources to those who are less fortunate than ourselves.  My project includes education and action. Currently, I am preparing Care Kits to be provided to people unable to find shelter.

Today, I’m reaching out to ask YOUR help. I am hoping you and your family will take the time to consider donating essential nutritional, hygiene, first aid and clothing that would greatly benefit the recipients of these Care Kits. Just a small donation of products like non-perishable food, soap, shampoo, first aid, clothing and feminine sanitary products can help make this possible. Attached is a list of items I hope to include in each Care Kit distributed to those in need throughout the greater Treasure Valley. For students who wish to help, in order to help make sure adequate resources from each necessary category are available to recipients, I have indicated next to each category which grade level I’d like to focus on each. Please know this is just a guideline to help fund and supply the entire project. Certainly, if you’d like to contribute to other categories, feel free to give in any way you are able.

I’m happy to make a contactless pick up from your home or office, or you’re welcome to drop off donations at my home anytime before Friday, January 8. If you have any questions, I would appreciate you contacting me at the number or email listed. If you’re unable to shop, I have set a goal of raising $2500 in monetary donations to purchase whatever items are not donated and make sure each Care Kit is adequately supplied. Monetary gifts of any amount are greatly appreciated and can be given via Venmo, Apple Pay or to the GoFundMe account I have set up here:  https://gofund.me/eab16932

Your donation will go directly toward helping men, women and children here in Boise who would otherwise go without the essential items they need to survive this winter. If you’re unable to donate at this time, but still wish to help support my Personal Project, I am also hoping to include personal notes of encouragement with each Care Kit. If you have time to write notes to those who will be receiving the Care Kits, please be in touch.  Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Miriam Vitkavage
