Care for the Clukey Family

Update 9/30/20:
With tears in my eyes and the heaviest of hearts, I am writing to update that David Clukey passed away yesterday.  He fought with courage and strength until his very last breath.

At the end of last week, David was able to leave the ICU and return home for in-home hospice.  While it wasn't nearly enough time, the family is grateful for the few days they had at home, as a family, one last time. Pain management eventually became too great for home care, as the tumor grew rapidly and became more aggressive.  He returned to the hospital again for his final days.  Some of his very last memories will be hearing his children's voices saying, I love you Daddy, over and over again through the phone.

Many of the medical bills have arrived and more will continue in the coming weeks and months.  Please continue to donate and share as we've increased the fundraising goal to $30,000.  Thank you from the bottom of our broken hearts.

Update 9/23/20:
David has been diagnosed with a terminal Glioblastoma level 3 brain tumor.   The tumor is growing rapidly and has moved into his brain stem.  Doctors have advised that the tumor is inoperable and will not respond to radiation or chemotherapy.  Jaime is hoping he can be released from the ICU to spend his last days at home with his family.  The need for financial support is great and will continue as they prepare for in-home hospice.  Please share their story and Go Fund Me link as often as possible as the family moves into the next stage of the diagnosis.  Thank you so much for all your support.

Update 9/22/20:
All, we are overwhelmed with your generosity in just 24 hours!  Thank you so much.  We are over halfway to our first $20,000 goal (knowing that this number will need to be increased a few times to actually cover the costs).
Thank you so much.  Please continue to share, share, share!

9/21/20:
In the midst of a global pandemic, my beautiful friend revealed to me her greatest fear.  Like most parents during this difficult time, she is concerned with the safety of her family, and due to preexisting conditions, is also terrified of getting the virus herself.  Jaime unexpectedly lost her father 2 years ago and the pain from the loss of a parent is something she does not want her 3 children to experience at their young age.  She is taking every possible precaution to mitigate her family's exposure to the Coronavirus to ensure she and her husband are always around to care for their children.

While Jaime's energy was focused on keeping her family safe from the threat of Covid-19, a different medical crisis struck the household.  Jaime's husband, David, was rushed to the hospital with stroke-like symptoms.  He did not have a stroke, but tests revealed that he has a large malignant brain tumor that is affecting his sight, memory, and speech. The tumor is located in the middle of his brain, near the brainstem, and continues to grow at a moderate pace (stage 3 Glioblastoma).  David has been in the hospital for three weeks and has endured numerous tests and surgeries in an effort to diagnose the type of tumor and evaluate the diverse side effects.

Due to complications from brain surgery, David has been in the ICU for half of his three week hospital stay.  Jaime has taken a leave from work to attend daily meetings with the doctors and to sit with David as he learns the results of his tests & procedures.  With both parents out of work, the two income family is now relying on minimal earnings to support their household.  The bills for the hospital stay, CTs, MRIs, Spinal Taps, and brain surgery will be arriving soon.  We are seeking your help to ease the extreme financial burden.

We would be extremely grateful if you could SUPPORT this amazing family, allowing them to focus on David's immediate needs.
