Care for Casandra Gilmore

Casandra Gilmore is a 16, almost 17-year-old girl. Growing up, she always had a vibrant, positive outlook on life. She loves to play basketball and see her friends, as well as take care of younger children with her intuitive maternal instinct. In fact, she values family life—trust, care, love, faith—and spends a considerable amount of time seeing both sides of her family.  Seeing the best in people, Casandra has displayed a forgiving and adoring personality, that everyone around her has grown to admire. However, Casandra’s promising future changed a month before her 17th birthday. On July 28, Casandra, enjoying the outdoors and beauty of nature, was involved in a tragic ATV accident, that has now left her paralyzed. Her family struggles to hold on, especially as her father, without a job, spends 24/7 with her, worrying on how he can pay for medical bills and general well-being. Along with the rest of the family, Casandra’s mother sits by her side, with Casandra’s sister and aunts supporting Casandra. Writing this, I am a family friend, introduced to Dan and Casandra through my own father. When I first visited Casandra, I saw a light in her eyes that I determined cannot go out because of a terrible incident.  The same way my father and I share an incredible bond, Casandra and Dan do as well, and I see it as my duty to help in any way I can.
