Cara Roemmich and Family Support

Donation protected
When my family and I moved to the community of North Glenora in Edmonton almost 5 years ago, Cara was the first person we met. The kids and I were at the park and Cara and her four beautiful children were there as well. I remember that Cara was so welcoming and full of love and so were her kids! Her four-year-old son offered to give my then two-year-old son the ride-on toy he had brought along to the park and with which my son had instantly fallen in love.  And that’s just who they are. Warm, loving and so giving; they’re the kind of people that create a community in the truest sense of the word.

Cara is a pillar in our community and anyone who knows her knows that she will go above and beyond to help a friend or neighbour. Her kids are her everything and it shows in the love, patience, and genuine interest that she raises them with every day. She has an amazing way with all kids. She makes each one feel special and important and plays all the right games, makes the best jokes, and gets them smiling every chance she can. Cara actively reaches out to new people and families in the neighbourhood, connecting people, helping them get settled, and welcoming them with those same open arms she had for my family that day in July when we first met.

Cara and her family and friends were blindsided last month when she was diagnosed with stage 2 colorectal cancer. She is now facing a challenging journey and will require treatment for several weeks, which will then be followed by surgery this coming fall, and then possibly more treatment. As Cara currently works on contract without medical benefits or sick leave, the financial stress of raising four children as a single parent while undergoing treatment and dealing with the various accompanying symptoms, is a burden that we hope we can help to lessen for her during her journey back to full health.

We humbly ask you to offer what you can to help lessen this financial burden. Your support will help with any medical expenses that are not covered, as well as basic living expenses for herself and her four children until she’s back on her feet.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting Cara and her family. Please share using the links provided to help spread the word!
