Capital Kitchen Flood Relief

Capital Kitchen, like so many businesses in our wonderful downtown Montpelier, was hit hard by the recent flooding. The basement filled to the top and the waters rose nearly 30 inches in the store itself.

We are still uncovering new issues, but we do know we will be needing new flooring, some new electronic equipment, and new fixtures. Much of the sheetrock and drywall will have to be replaced, as well as all the electrical outlets that were submerged. The most immediate need, however, is funding to help cover the cost of the enormous amount of goods that we had ordered for the summer buying season and for which we are just now being billed. Rent, payroll, and utilities will also be coming due in the coming days.

Thanks to the incredible, swift efforts of both friends and strangers, we were able to save more of our inventory than many downtown businesses (one of the advantages of being a small store). This is a phenomenal community and we are both so grateful to be a part of it. Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this difficult time!

Capital Kitchen has been a fixture in Montpelier for over 15 years now. With your help, we will be back for many more.

Thank you again,
Chris McDonald and Amanda Menard
