Cape Cod DSA Brakelight Clinic

Donation protected
Broken brake lights are often used as a pretext for the police to target people and pull them over — and pull them into the criminal justice system. This community service event is a way of offering protection to community members by reducing the possibility of police interaction. In addition to the dangers of a police interaction, the cost of a ticket incurred for a broken brake light can be burdensome, especially for low-income households. An unpaid ticket for something as trivial as a broken taillight can snowball into a court appearance or worse.

With this event, organized together with the Canaan Bilingual SDA Church in Hyannis, we'll be replacing our neighbors' brake lights for free, and we're raising money to purchase the most common brake lights and other materials to make the event a success.

Our first clinic is May 27, so we'd hugely appreciate your help before then. We also plan to continue to host additional brakelight clinics throughout the summer.
