CANTER Chicago Insurance Fundraiser

CANTER Chicago is a 501c3 non-profit committed to finding homes for retiring racehorses at the Chicago-area tracks, Arlington Park and Hawthorne Race Course. Our volunteers walk the backside of the racetrack each week, talking with racing connections to identify any horses that need to retire due to injury, age, no longer being competitive or a multitude of other reasons.

Our volunteers take photos, videos and information about the retiring horses and post a sales listing on the CANTER website and our social media channels to connect these horses with the buying public. Thousands of people view these horses as a result of our efforts, and in a few cases, horses have found homes in 24 hours or less.

The CANTER service provides a win-win-win for the horse, racing connections and the buyer and there's no limit to the number of horses we can help.

To continue to offer this service, CANTER Chicago needs a substantial (~$1350) insurance policy to have our volunteers on the track backside, as well as vendor licenses for our volunteers (~$350). As we are 100% reliant on donations, we need your help to raise these funds to continue our mission. 

We are a completely volunteer-run organization, so all funds go directly to our mission of responsible racehorse retirement.

Nationally, CANTER has helped more than 20,000 racehorses transition to new homes. In the Chicago market, we've provided support to 50+ racehorses in the past year, with 7 horses currently listed by CANTER Chicago.
