Cannon's Behaviour Modification

Donation protected

Two years ago my sweet Cannon entered into my life, rather unexpectedly, through a local dog rescue organization near and dear to my heart. He was rescued from a high kill shelter in the South with his brother and driven cross-country with the organizations co-founder.

It was love at first sight and our bond was immeasurable. He was my perfect, funny, quirky little guy with the sweetest heart. I vowed to give him the best life possible... and I have.

He has been taken through two reputable training programs, has spent his days with me at doggy daycare or out on daily adventures through the urban wilderness. On weekends we go on multiple, long walks and adventures together in and outside of the city. He has been socialized with dogs, cats and humans. I did all of the things that were advised of me to raise a happy, healthy, well-adjusted dog...

Still, despite my very best efforts, my sweet 60lb boy began to develop some behavioural issues. His main issue being fearfulness and reactivity, particularly with strangers (STRANGER DANGER!). When the signs of this began to appear, we reached out to a trainer immediately and sent him on a two week Board & Train outside of the city, which cost around $800, which my loving and kind mother paid for. When he got back home, things seemed to be better, but since then he began to regress even more...

It was time to reach out to the big guns and contact an organization that specialized in behaviour modification training with dogs that possessed similar issues to Cannon's (fearfulness, insecurity, reactivity, etc.) From the moment the trainers met him, they were able to clearly pinpoint Cannon's issues and set forth to create a tailored plan of action to work with him to modify these behaviours. Because of the nature and severity of his issues, they advised that he would be a better candidate for a three week Board & Train with them, to work on building his confidence and trust in others. The cost of this is $700 per week, totalling $2,100.

Anyone that knows me knows that I love my dog more than ANYTHING. I will never give up on him and I will especially not let something as trivial as money get in the way of helping him reach his potential. I vowed to give him the best life possible and I always will, no matter what…

I love ALL dogs so much that I made it my career, but $2000 in three weeks time isn’t something that I can currently afford. I would be FOREVER grateful to anyone who was able to donate even the smallest amount to help my Cannon.

He is the love of my life and I just want him to be the confident, brave boy that I know he can be! If he can learn to gain these traits from this Board & Train experience, then I owe it to him and to myself to try.

Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for reading this and for donating. You have no idea how much it means.

THANK YOU.

Trish & Cannon
