<div>Hi, my name is Lee and I'm a volunteer at Miami Animal Rescue. Unlike government shelters that run on millions of dollars and too often choose euthanasia when an animal is sick, we have no government funding. We survive only on kindness. And because of that, we make a different choice: as long as an animal is breathing and wants to live, we fight for them.

<div>One of our kittens, <strong>Cannoli, a 3-month-old kitten, has been recently diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis)</strong>, a cruel disease caused by a mutated feline coronavirus. Until recently, FIP was a death sentence. Thousands of kittens like Cannoli were euthanized every year because there was no hope. But today, there is hope. A medication called GS-441524, an antiviral treatment, has changed everything. It can save her life, but it is long, grueling, and very expensive: 84 days of daily treatment, strict dosing, and constant monitoring.

<div>Cannoli has been through more than any baby her age should:

<div>Fluid filled her tiny chest, suffocating her lungs until it had to be drained with a needle. She has been through surgery while barely bigger than the palm of a hand. She lies weak, sometimes only able to keep her eyes half open, fighting for every shallow breath. Nights where her ribs rise and fall rapidly, where oxygen support is the only thing keeping her stable. And yet, through all of this, she still breathes. She still purrs faintly when touched. She still reaches for life.

<div>Why Not Euthanasia?

<div>Because Cannoli wants to live. Because FIP is no longer a death sentence.

</div>

<div>We do not believe in ending a life when there is a chance to save it. As long as her tiny chest rises, as long as she has the will to fight, we will fight alongside her.
