Help Caleb and Dakota make it to Cannes

In late 2017, I found out about a film competition that was going to be coming to Indiana University, Campus Movie Fest. Caleb and I had been brainstorming short film ideas for months leading up to the news. Because of the significance of the event, I knew that I needed to tell a story that had been close to me for my entire life.

My father is a firefighter and my mother is a nurse, so our dinner conversations were usually quite interesting. One topic that got brought up often was the way that first responders are typically represented on television. This is why Caleb and I focussed our brainstorming on firefighters, and trying to tell the true story of the firefighter. "Probie" was born.

"Probie" is about a probationary firefighter coming to terms with the realities of the job, specifically dealing on mental health. We made this movie on the premise that most of firefighting is the opposite of what the career title suggests. They spend a lot of time seeing the most unimaginable catastrophe's. Firefighters are 10 times more likely to commit suicide than the average person. In 2017, more firefighters took their own life than firefighters killed on duty.

"Probie" has done very well in the festival circuit. "Probie" brought home the top prize at CMF Indiana University, and was nominated "Best Drama" and "Best Director" world-wide. It even made it onto Amazon Prime. We could not be more thrilled because we want to push on and tell this story in a full length feature film.

In December of 2018, I finally got an email I had been hoping for. "Probie" was officially invited to take part in the 72nd annual Court Métrage Short Film Corner at Festival de Cannes

We need help making it to the biggest film festival in the world.  We know we need to find a way to attend because of how big the opportunity is and how important the story is to us. We think that the connections and experience we will gain in France will help us make "Probie" the feature.

All of the donations will go into the price of the event, and partially help us on our flights. Cannes is in early May, so we want to be halfway to our goal by March. Your support would mean the world to us. We want to help spur discourse on a subject that has been very close to our hearts. Help us tell the true story of the firefighter, and Thank You again for your support.
