Gwinnett Woodworkers has been making high quality canes for military veterans in need of a cane. Every Tuesday a number of volunteers meet at a member shop to fabricate canes in batches through the various processes to bring the cane from lumber to a finely finished walking aid. To date, we have made over 800 canes that have been distributed to various veterans that have visited VA facilities in the Southeast. So far, the cost of wood, expendables, and supplies has been borne by the Gwinnett Woodworkers club and donations from related businesses and volunteers. We are seeking additional funds to sustain the supply of canes to the every increasing aging veteran population.
