Let's Pay Christina's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Christina is awesome. She let's her kids give her haircuts, she gardens, volunteers at animal sanctuaries, has the funniest facebook updates in the world, takes being the toothfairy seriously, and was hilarious (and very emotional about Star Trek) when coming out of surgery.

Brain cancer is the worst. After months of seizures, a brain surgery, a month of radiation, a year of chemo, and an ongoing max dose of a bunch of awful medications, even The Toughest Woman In The World could use a break. She has youth, a good genetic marker, and her extreme stubbornness in her favor; but anaplastic astrocytoma  is scary.

Through it all she has worked full time, cared for her 2 kids and 2 gigantic dogs, put up with her husband comparing her to a drunk hippo when she takes clonazepam, made us laugh with her #perksofbeingbald, and even babysat her sister's kids. LET'S GIVE HER A BREAK ALREADY!

I'm going to share some privileged information. Christina secretly wishes she didn't have to work a full 40. She would love her first shot at being a full time mom while her kids are out of school this summer. But it turns out cancer treatments are expensive.

She will absolutely hate me for doing this. She doesn't want your pity money, ok?

But here's what her bossy big sister says: Take that vacation! Pay those bills! Work fewer hours this summer! And most of all, Let People Help You. Not because you need help. Because we need to help you; because doing something for you expands our souls and eases our feelings of helplessness and adds to the good that is cycling through the world.

For $1500, we get her home from work to her kids an hour earlier each day this summer. That should be easy, right? Especially because...

***Your donation will be matched, dollar for dollar.***
Meaning this site only needs to raise $750 to meet that goal.

This goal has been met! It doesn't all show up on GdFundMe because of donations made via PayPal and Google Wallet, but in the first 3 hours we'd raised over $800!

$6000 is half of what she'd make working full time this summer- let's make it for her! That's $3,000 from you.

DONE! Before the first day was half over we met our 2nd goal of $3000!

Of course, at 20 hrs per week she loses insurance. Better up that to $8000.

Dream Goal: $15000. That's $12,000 to replace her whole income for the summer, plus $3,000 to make sure her family still has health insurance. And keep in mind, that means $7500 raised because the dollars will be matched.

(All numbers are approximate since I don't actually know the ins and outs of my sister's finances. All money raised will be spent at Christina's discretion and may or may not result in the above work hours.)

Go Fund Me pages don't expire, but I'm going to put a closing date of March 17th on this. Let's see how lucky we can make the Ratcliff family feel by St. Patricks Day.

Also, because GoFundMe keeps a small percentage of donations, some people have opted to donate via PayPal.  Just log in on the PayPal website, click "pay or send money" -> "send money to friends or family" and enter my email address: [email redacted]. I'm using my account so that I can make sure all funds are matched and then I'll forward the funds to Christina. Please let me know if you wish to remain anonymous.
