Hi, The name is Chris. I am a husband, a father of 5 beautiful kids (my 17yr old senior to my feisty 8yr old), son, brother, uncle, cuz... (list goes on).
Life has had its ups and downs. But this cancer thing... that's a down. Really down. BUT I am not going to let it overtake me. HECK NO! I am 45 with Kidney Cancer. (OH and not just one kidney but one tumor on each!!) Go figure.
I am going to Cancer Treatment Center of America in Newnan, GA. The plan:
Partial Nephrectomy on the left side first... Get better (Sept 5)
Partial to full Nephrectomy on the right side... Get better (Nov)
THEN to add insult to injury... there may be a bout with lung cancer too They will monitor and rescan in two months. If its still there, then yet another operation to take that out. (Dec-Jan)
I have kids to take care of and watch them go to collage, get married, and then see the product of the statement "just wait till you have kids". Now I have this lingering Cancer thing. I am going through the numbers and this is going to nickel and dime me.
This Cancer thing. I never would have thought in a million years (I am sure that has been said before). So with this thing coming up, there are the added costs associated with it:
Medications
Consults
Travel expenses to and from Newnan (2hr round trip)
Jens missed wages while taking care of me as well as having had to stop teaching from home.
The mounting expenses (after insurance) are really adding up.
Child Care Expenses long term
Everyone has asked what they can do to help, and many have asked about a "Go Fund Me" page. Thus I have created one.
First and foremost, we need your prayers and positive vibes for the best outcome possible.
Second, any financial help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Those that cannot I totally understand (been there and done that). I sooo feel uncomfortable asking but I need to think of my family as well.
Please make sure you are all good at home before you even think about helping me out. Again, its amazing the support I have had.
