Cancer Treatment for Nicholas

This is my beautiful little boy, Nicholas, a mini poodle who just turned 9 years old this March. He has been part of our family since he was 2 months old. He means so much to me. Nicholas  filled the empty nest feeling left by my daughter when she went to college. Nicholas is one of a kind, very lovable, with amazing emotional intelligence, and he would do anything to please you. He is very social, he likes people and he is always the best host for family and friends. He is an amateur show dog and he loves to do his tricks in front of our visitors. He is irreplaceable for me, and my family, and I want to fight for his life if there's a chance. I don't know what our home would be without him.

Unfortunately, when the coronavirus hit the majority of my jobs have been put on pause. I make a living as a fitness instructor, personal trainer, and substitute teacher, but due to covid the schools and gyms are not open and I am receiving unemployment. It all so happened so fast, but in April Nicholas started getting weird rashes. The doctor thought it was allergies and gave him antibiotics, antihistamines, and a medicated shampoo. Everything seemed to go away until the end of May, when a large black scab appeared on his cheek. The doctor prescribed a new antibiotic and a cream to see if the bump would go away before inspecting for cancer. One week later, the bump seemed to go away but then, suddenly overnight, more new bumps emerged all over his body. The speed that the scabs appeared together with the symptoms of pain, itching and anxiety leads the doctor to believe it is skin cancer. will need to remove all of the bumps to determine what type of skin cancer and if it is malignant or benign. Now I am faced with these medical costs at a time of unprecedented financial insecurity.

Due to his condition Nicholas is now being treated at a specialized animal hospital. They will perform skin cancer exams and a skin biopsy which will involve scans, surgery, and radiation treatment. The initial treatment which includes examination  and urgent removal of tumors followed by radiation are estimated at about 5000 dollars, but his total medical costs may amount to much more. We first need to do these initial procedures in order to determine what his next stages will be. Please, if you have only a few dollars to spare I would be incredibly grateful. I wish I could handle this on my own, but the times are unique and I want to keep fighting for our beloved Nicholas.

I will post updates concerning Nicholas's status and proof of medical receipts once we reach those stages.  If at the end of the day, the amount ive raised is more than the total medical costs Nicholas will need, I will donate all leftover funds to DREAM  (Our Mission: to empower underrepresented, urban youth by equipping them with the knowledge to become prudent, financially literate, adept individuals.)
