Cancer take me by Surprise! I'm not ready!

Hello, my name is Michael González and I am 47 years old. I have a 13-year-old son and a very united family. On Tuesday, August 16, after a week with steroids, albuterol, and cough medicines at home, I did not see any improvement and had to return to the emergency room due to the huge swelling that I had in my face and neck. In the emergency room I had x-rays, blood tests and scans which detected the mass. They leave me hospitalized to perform many more tests. They take me up to the 5th floor of Metro Health and they do a biopsy to make sure it was cancer. Indeed, on August 17 the doctor visits me in the morning to give me the devastating news that I have lung cancer in my right lung plus pneumonia. They have performed scans of my body, head and they have not seen me have metastasised to any other side or organ. They plan to perform another test on me to rule out that I have anything in my bones. The doctor tells us that my type of cancer is an aggressive cancer but also one to receive and accept medication very well. On August 18, since the doctor wants to act quickly, they start the first chemo that they are currently giving me. I am a healthy man, I don't have any other conditions like high blood pressure, sugar, diabetes etc and usually I don't have any other complications but Im a smoker for more than 25 years, I tried to quit but I think it was already too late as I I just tried quitting months ago. I feel shocked by this news, sad for my family and son... but not to mention that this disease is hereditary. My mother died of stage 4 lung cancer 10 years ago, my grandfather lung cancer as well. I am full of life, I want to hold on to life as much as I can…I still have a lot to do, I would like to see my son grow up, see him get married, see in the man he can become, start a family and meet my grandchildren…. I would like God to give me the blessing of being able to accomplish this with health and courage. All this has taken me by surprise And I'm not going to let this horrible disease defeat me.…. If I receive any kind of help, I will be eternally grateful, since I would be helping my family in some way to pay and alleviate medical bills, consultations and everything else that this horrible disease brings…. I would like to give a message to those smokers out there having this disease or not…. PLEASE SAY NO TO THE CIGARETTE, SAY NO TO ELECTRIC CIGARETTE…. TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH…. ENJOY YOUR FAMILY, TELL YOUR LOVE ONES HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM AND CARE FOR THEM, SPEND TIME TOGETHER AND ENJOY YOUR LIFE AS IF IT WERE THE LAST.

One day I will realize that I was not just another survivor, but a warrior who never gave up!
