Cancer Sucks - Love Wins
If you know Lisa you have been touched by her kindness and generosity of spirit before. Her determination to face challenges with grace and thoughtfulness as she shows consideration of others has made her many friends and admirers over the years. If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting her yourself, you may have been contacted by one of her loved ones to lend a hand.
The cancer that surprised all who know young, vibrant, and jovial Lisa, has progressed quickly over the last year, despite several different rounds and types of treatment. Love, though, love wins all. Lisa has always been full of love and as life leaves her she yearns to finish her most important endeavor, the one thing she always wanted to do and was her primary focus: be a mother. Lisa has always had a generous and thoughtful spirit, eager to care for others and spread kindness in small meaningful ways. Now it is our turn to care for her and to continue her efforts to raise three amazing daughters. Her girls have the enormous challenge of finishing school and beginning their adulthood without their parents. Nothing can take the pain away from this loss, but with this GoFundMe we aim to ease some of the other burdens.
Since Lisa is a single mom and hasn't been able to continue her job supporting a women's recovery house, she's been relying on a dwindling savings, extended family, and local charity to pay the bills as she fought the original Stage 3 cervical cancer diagnosis last year and its shift into the painful metastatic stage 4. Now that we are all coming to grips with inevitable progression of this disease, we want to help ease her mind about care for her family after she passes. She's received so much loving support from sunshine meals provided by local churches, to donations gathered in her honor at Billy's Cafe and at a faith-based concert. Lisa feels blessed and humbled and was reluctant to accept more help. But the reality is that raising a family is expensive and sending these girls into adulthood with some assurance will go a long way. She's immensely grateful for all of the help she's received.
At this time, Lisa’s family is asking for your support as her young daughters continue on their journey toward graduating high school and entering young adulthood, which includes their transition into the care of generous family friends who will take over guardianship. We are also preparing for funeral and burial costs, with the goal of easing the burden of those family members who have been caretaking, as we comfort Lisa in her final chapter of life. Funds donated will be managed by the eldest daughter, Taylor (Hailey), and will be spent to provide for the funeral costs and needs of the three daughters as they move forward into adulthood without their parents.
