Setback-Where is my pony? Tis but a scratch!

Don protégé

Happy New Year to all-It has indeed been a long and winding road. I am now a 5-year survivor of Pancreatic Cancer. Praise the Lord! I cannot thank you all enough for your prayers, shares and financial support. My mother had a divine sense of humor (see pictures). Her favorite joke was, “with this much crap there has to be a Shetland pony in here somewhere!” I am digging through it with a teaspoon. I have included links to many of my disorders so if you are experiencing similar you can see your own doctor.

About 6 months ago I began experiencing extreme pain in my feet and legs, fatigue, dizziness, and began sleeping 12-16 hours a day. It was discovered I have Afib (https://www.heart.org/en/health-topics/atrial-fibrillation/what-is-atrial-fibrillation-afib-or-af)

The symptoms persisted and I went to see neurologist Dr. Sargon Bet-Shlimon, MD at Valley Medical on 12-20-2023. He confirmed I have severe peripheral polyneuropathy which started while receiving platinum-based chemotherapy (oxaliplatin) for pancreatic cancer in 2019. He has referred me to Derek W. Wood, MD, a fellow neurologist who administers and evaluates a Nerve Conduction Study Referral (EMG/NCS of BLE and LUE). Keeping us older models on the road is a challenge. ~ (https://www.ninds.nih.gov/health-information/disorders/peripheral-neuropathy)

To add insult to injury the clutch went out in my Jeep for a 2nd time and they are not covering it by drivetrain warranty or replacement- warranty. I am now without a car to get to church and Dr. appointments. If any of you have an old beater car that you are not using or would donate loan or sell cheap let me know.

I am emotionally, exhausted physically and mentally drained and may well have to move in with relatives in the south if I am unable to become self-sufficient. But the level of medical care is so far below that of the UW and Fred Hutch, it would likely be a death sentence. I am trying to stay, as long as I can, in Renton. You have all given so much, but if you can help financially, or with a car, it would be a blessing. Prayers and shares are much needed as well.” “May the peace of God be always with you and those that you hold near and dear in your heart...” In the meantime, I will continue digging through this crap with my teaspoon.
