I have had 17 surgeries in the last 14 years & my husband had 3 strokes in April. Needless to say, we have always barely kept our heads above water financially. One of the surgeries was to remove my thyroid because I had thyroid cancer...which led to radioactive iodine treatments & a life of taking Synthroid. All of that has led to my teeth rotting out of my head. I currently have 18 of my adult teeth left, 3 just got pulled in the last 10 days & 2 of the 20 came out today & I had my consult for dentures. The dentist believes it's medically necessary that I get a full upper denture & a bottom partial as well. He took full x-rays and I only have 3 bottom teeth worth saving but thats enough to hold a partial!
I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Dental Blue 300 insurance. They pay 50% of dentures & partials. They pay 80% for extractions. They do not cover anesthesia or nitrous. They offer a maximum of $1,500 per calendar year of dental benefits...the rest is my out of pocket. I need help. The estimated out of pocket for a full set of dentures, extraction of teeth with anesthesia, x-rays, exam fees, & follow up care is going to cost me about $4,500 out of pocket (that is with seperating the charges between the end of this year & the beginning of 2018 in order to maximize $3000, instead of just $1,500 if all charged in 2017...make sense?). I need the money by my appointment for impressions on December 22nd.
HOWEVER!!! Afdent took $2,600 off the price through a program they have called the Impact Program!!!!! This program has money earmarked for people just like me who need help and major dental work and cant afford it. I was bawling my eyes out!!! I was overwhelmed (in a good way lol) and totally shocked. I hugged the finance guy which I dont think he was expecting. Debbie Martin, who works there, nominated me for the program so I will be forever grateful to her.
I need these because am in constant pain, taste blood everytime I eat & literally have teeth crumbling out of my mouth. With your donation, you can, quite literally, put a beautiful smile on my face! My mouth, jaws, teeth & gums could be pain free for the first time since 2009! Your donation can ease my husband's stress of constantly worrying about me & as a stroke survivor, stress is the last thing he needs! We barely break even monthly so this expense is just simply something we can't afford. CareCredit isn't an option because we can't afford the monthly payments. While my husband was off work for 4 months this year recovering, we drained our savings, got generous donations from friends and family & I sold everything but the kitchen sink to get by. There is nothing left TO sell or I would sell it.
My sister keeps calling me the Hot Mess Express because I am. My teeth are rapidly deteriorating & it's urgent, for my health, that my rotten teeth come out & dentures go in. I keep hearing the song "All I Want for Christmas is My 2 Front Teeth" but now I'm singing "All I Want for Christmas is My New False Teeth." :)
