Cancer Funding for Finley

Finley is an 8-year-old wirehair dachshund mix that loves the outdoors, car rides, and puppicinos. He is a beloved family dog and our lives would not be complete without him. Finley was diagnosed with anal sac adenocarcinoma in July of 2020.  We received this diagnosis after he had surgery to remove a lump on his right anal sac. Thankfully, it seems we have caught the cancer early. The lump was very small and Finley is not currently sick or in pain. However, it is not uncommon for surgery to be incomplete. This means that residual cancer cells are left behind after surgery. The oncologist said “Finley's tumor was technically removed completely however the margins (amount of normal tissue around the tumor) were very narrow (<1mm in many areas) so there is a high chance that tumor cells are still present in the anal sac region that have the potential to grow back.” 
Finley will be receiving cancer treatment at WSU Veterinary Hospital. The treatment will consist of radiation and chemotherapy. There is no official treatment plan or official estimation in place but, I have done some research and found that most radiation and chemo treatments can separately cost up to $5,000 each. This is why I chose the $10,000 goal for his treatment. His appointment with the oncologist at WSU is on September 1st. I will update this page with his treatment estimate but, I will leave the general estimate sent to me in an email at the bottom. 
It is a weird time to ask for money because of the ongoing pandemic and we definitely understand if you are not able to contribute a lot or at all. Anything you are able to contribute will help us immensely. On top of the cost of treatment, we will also have to take into consideration the cost of trips to WSU and/or housing costs to stay in the area. The radiation treatments may be as often as every day(M-F) for 20 days. Any fund raised will be used for specifically for his cancer treatment. Finley means so much to me and my family. He has so many more years to live and I want to do everything I can to make sure he is healthy for those years to come.
