<div> Two of my contractors, Mae and Alex, recently received the most terrible news - a parent's worst nightmare. They have 3 small children, and their youngest, Phoenix, was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma in February of this year. After many diagnostic tests it was revealed that the tumor is 12 cm long, in his abdomen, and very close to his spinal cord. The size of the tumor, and the proximity to his spine, means that in order to operate the tumor must first be reduced in size. Phoenix has started chemotherapy, which you will know wreaks havoc on patients' immune systems. While he did have to celebrate his first birthday in the hospital he has since been able to return home. This is certainly more comfortable for the family, but it also means that Mae and Alex are faced with trying to sanitize every single surface multiple times a day, in order to keep him as healthy as possible.  And with two other small children in the home, you can imagine that this is a difficult task. They are still in the early stages of this diagnosis and are learning as they go how to manage the different challenges of daily life with a wee one who is desperately vulnerable. Neither of them can work at all during this time, as they are on a steep learning curve, and need to focus on their family. As contractors, they only get paid when they work, which means that neither of them is earning at this time. Neither do they have any sort of extended health care, unfortunately, which leaves them in an extremely difficult financial position. So I am asking for your donations to help this wonderful family be able to keep their focus where it belongs, and not be overly stressed by the financial burdens they now face.
