Cancer Care for Mare

Donation protected
In support of Mary Ellen’s battle against Stage 3 breast cancer, myself, Cathy Phillips, and her friends, would like to reach out to all those who love and support her. As we know, Mary Ellen has spent her life caring for many precious little babies and families as a postpartum doula. She has selflessly devoted her personal and professional time to ensure new families have the help they need to make a great start as they bring a child or children into their lives. She has always taken care of herself on her own, and we know she takes pride in her independence. I hope we can all help her in this time of need. Of course, we know she would not ask for help, but know we would like her to be able to concentrate on her treatments, healing, and path to wellness without the worry of the financial burden caused by costly cancer treatments. While she may not have the physical strength to work for a long while, we can support her spiritual and emotional strength, while she gets well, to relieve the worry of not having the funds needed for this long journey of healing.  It is so very vital that she is able to maintain the payments for her health insurance, until she is able to return to work full-time hopefully in the spring of 2018. It would be wonderful to show her our support in recognition of all she has done for so many others.

As we know, times have been difficulty for Mary Ellen and her family since losing her sister Eileen to ovarian cancer. Hopefully, the healing power of time will give her the strength needed to fight her own fight. Any level of financial support would be greatly appreciated, for any amount we are able to give would be received with gratitude and love. So let’s show our strong, independent (mushy on the inside) friend that she can hold her head up high while we rally around her in a demonstration of love, friendship, and financial support, while watching her unleash her inner warrior. In the words of our 1970’s high school Women’s Self-Defense gym class theme song, Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman,”

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
