In December, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that has spread into my lymph nodes.
I never thought I’d be starting one of these, but with the bills I’m incurring and the time off that I have to take off from work, I need help.
Unfortunately, my short term disability and critical illness insurance will not help at all saying this is a “pre-existing condition.”
Any help would be more than appreciated. I want to come out of this strong physically and financially so I can pay it forward. I’m only 29 and while this is stressful, my team of doctors are hopeful for a good prognosis.
I’m having a total thyroid removal and they are doing a complete right side lymph node dissection. They’re taking out a lot of swollen and suspicious or malignant lymph nodes. Thank God for the intellect of the doctors who found them and are able to direct the surgeon.
I have a 4-5 day at Moffitt and then a 3 week recovery before going back for radioactive iodine treatment. I’ll be quarantined for a week during that time due to the radioactive component.
As many of you know, Doug and I are separated and taking steps towards divorce. This has been so difficult and sad to go through. I won’t go into too many personal details, but we are still on good terms, and taking things one step at a time.
I’ll be moving into a house in Venice soon, renting out a room. This is a blessing and I’m so grateful to have this opportunity come up at just the right time.
The financial help and words of encouragement have meant so much to me. It makes me feel so good that people care to take the time to donate their hard earned money and send messages of support and love.
All of your funds are going towards my living expenses and bills during this time of surgery and recovery coming up. I’m nervous about the future and how I will make it through, but as opportunities and blessings keep rolling in, I feel I will be okay.
I am going to start driving for Lyft for some extra funds, so you might get a ride from me at some point!
